I'm in two minds about this. On the one hand, being a Christian and specifically a Catholic, I feel that the death penalty is wrong on every level, but on the other hand... politically speaking, I dont think they had any option. Even if they'd banished him, there was always the chance that he could get power again and so the lives of many had to be weighed against the life of that one. THAT's what saddens me more than anything, that we have to take a life becuase there's no option.
I'm very conflicted about it all so I'm glad I didnt have to make this decision.
