Oh, wow -- so satisfying. Jack wrestling with the old guy in his head, Daniel wrestling with what this all tells him about original!Jack (and still defending him ... that's a lovely, poignant bit). I love how you depict this Jack as a man who's had years to make his peace with who he was -- and how the original has made his own harsh peace with his own choices, heartachey though it is to read.
