Updates from Preservation Hell

Forget the 'mad scientist' trope: I'm officially instating the 'mad zucchini' trope in its stead. There is a zucchini plot to take over the world. And they're succeeding in this corner of it - I can't keep up ::wails:: And while there is apparently no limit to the amount of zucchini bread I can make, there *is* a limit to how much we can eat... or dedicate freezer space to... or how much the worms in the worm bin can eat... or fill *their* freezers with...
Preservation batters on apace. Broad beans down to the last carrier bag-full, waiting to get shelled and frozen.
Peas - back broken on the peas. Only half a row to go! Thank the lord - I'm shelling peas in my sleep ::snort::which has given The Man a couple of rude awakenings imaginary pea shelling *not* recommended as an amatory technique
Emergency dig done on the potatoes - blight is threatening, thanks to the weather, so they're better up than not.
Plums are looking troublesome ::scowls at plums:: There's lbs and lbs of them on the four trees, I'd say about 60 lbs *at least* - and it looks like the damn things are all going to reach perfect ripeness when we're on holiday, dammit :-(
Also - we've had a triumph :-D
For lo! We have managed to grow spaghetti squash :-D We maybe let it get a bit on the large side before cutting it though... (my lighter is in the picture to give some kind of scale)

We've got another one just about that size too, plus another two pretty decent ones on the vine, plus another six or eight little ones (although the rate the damn things grow, they won't be that little for long *g*. And I have to tell you it was delicious!
I also tried making what calls itself 'mock coconut pie' with the leftovers. Hmmm. I suspect that using vegetables as a dessert is a notion you probably have to be brought up with to fully appreciate, zucchini bread notwithstanding.
In other news, #1 son passed his driving test today \0/
I had a little rant all ready for your edification as well - but on mature consideration, I decided to spare you all and deleted it ;-)
