Now, where was I?

Net connection at this RV park is really, really spotty :-( So, two days' worth today. They've been relatively unbusy days though - in the sense of doing lots of things. We've done longer things instead.
What day is it anyway? Sunday? So I've got Friday and Saturday to cover. Lessee now, Friday. Oh yeah, the zoo :-) Because it was a beautiful day, warm and sunny :-)
Seattle has a very pretty little zoo - with elephants yay! I love elephants, they're my favuorite animals. The exhibits are all pretty naturalistic - ie no bars. Not entirely sure if this is a good thing or a bad, from my own selfish pov - the lion was giving me very odd looks, I thought, and really, a piddling little six foot dry moat with a ten foot drop - is this totally adequate? Hmmm. Not sure aout that one.
The orang utans were lovely. There's a huge troop of them there. Most of them were asleep under burlap sacks, but one was sitting at the window of the exhibit absolutely entranced by a girl who was sitting painting a picture of her. So cute :-)
Back to Carron's for dinner (take out) and a welcome does of RDA for SciFi Friday. Fairly quiet day, but enjoyable for all that :-) I disgraced myself by falling asleep in the jeep on the way home. Every damn time I sit in the jeep, I get sleepy - I'm starting to wonder if the damn thing has a blocked exhaust or something, if it's some arcane plot to get rid of me because I've outstayed my welcome LOL.
Yesterday was Whale Watch Day. Now that was a long trip! Six hours on a boat, but it was great! Saw porpoises, bald eagles, and greys. No orcas though, again :-( I'll get to see those one of these days. We went through the San jUans and they're very beautiful, even on a day like yesterday which was cold and pouring with rain for most of it, although it did dry up a little when we were on the boat. We went through this little passage between a couple of the islands called Deception Pass. Very beautiful, but very treacherous. The water had that funny, glassy look to it with just the odd ripple that tried to upgrade itself to a whirlpool and you just *knew* that the current was severe, even without the captain mentioning the fact. Talking of the captain - very cute :-) I'm not sure just how much attention
feather_autant paid to the whales after she noticed that fact ;-) But cute he was, indeed - tall, samdy haired, blue eyes, killer soh and I'm told - a nice butt. I must be slipping 'cos I never noticed the butt :-(
I had my first ever hot dog! The bun was yellow, which was a bit of a surprise - but it was *good*! I was expecting it to taste like a larger version of a 'Ye Olde Oake' one from a tin, but it didn't, thankfully *g*. It was really very good indeed - especially eaten outdoors on a boat in the middle of the Puget Sound. The drinks were a bit disappointing though - *why* can't this country do tea? They do everything else so well - dammit, they can even put a man on the moon - but they can't do tea :-( It was Lipton's, to start with. I could pretty well stop there, but I won't, of course *g*. And the milk was mucked about with - a fact I didn't notice until it was too late :-( It had vanilla or something in it, so I ended up drinking a sort of bastard Chai tea ICK.
But that was the only dull spot. At the end of the trip though I walked off that boat like Popeye LOL. I felt the motion of the boat for all the rest of the evening and walked funny all the damn time. Which earned me some odd looks when we went into the restaurant for dinner *g*.
If anyone's interested, they make a good margarita in Applebee's :-))) That thing had a kick like a mule - and that was even with us splitting one between two. How anyone drinks a whole one and still stays standing beats me to know - especially since they slide down so easily *g*. I'm thinking margaritas might be a good plan for SG12 :-)
And talking of booze, I forgot to mention the other day that I got carded when I went to buy a bottle of red! I was ecstatic LOL - I think I shall love the lady in the fancy cheese shop in Fisher Plaza for ever *g*. I haven't been asked for ID to buy booze for oh, let's see ::counts on fingers:: about 30 years :-))) And yeah, I know they're obliged by law to ask everyone, please don't knock the gloss off the moment...
So today, we're back to busy again :-) Today, we Do Seattle. I have a trip up the Space Needle in my very near future, and combined with my vertigo, this should be fun ;-) Still, I feel the Pride of Empire is at stake here, so I'm determined. Watch this space...

Date: 2006-04-02 05:47 pm (UTC)You saw some of Thor's little buddies? Cool! ;-)
Re: the tea. For future reference, mail a box of proper tea to yourself before you set off. 8-) (Remember le CNIT in Paris? {g})
Re: sea legs. At the end of a holiday afloat (at least a week) you find that, while the boat isn't heaving under your feet any more, the jetty is... Weird feeling. {g}

Date: 2006-04-02 08:51 pm (UTC)I think because they never boil the water properly. If you try to put boiling water on coffee grounds, it scalds them and they taste bitter. Put not-quite-boiling water on tea and it tastes crappy. :(
LOVED that you got carded :) and ITA with skater_g8er, the boat trip sounds fab.

Date: 2006-04-03 05:39 am (UTC)I think you're probably right about the water too. Even if you do get a half decent cuppa, it tends to get cold very quickly.

Date: 2006-04-06 07:45 am (UTC)So what did you have on your first hotdog?
no subject
Date: 2006-04-06 05:40 pm (UTC)I had sweet relish on the first one. Mustard on the second. I even brought some home with me LOL - although seeing as the luggage has gone walkabout, I'm not sure whether Customs allowed them or not. Time will tell.

Date: 2006-04-07 05:32 am (UTC)Locally a hotdog with 'everything' would have chili, mustard, onion, and coleslaw. When I make them at home, I like mustard, ketchup, and onion on an Oscar Meyer weiner.
I hope yours made it through Customs.

Date: 2006-04-07 01:35 pm (UTC)I'll try that because yes, they made it through okay :-) Hotdogs all round tonight :-)))
