I found my dollhouse in an antique shop. It’s handmade, and from the material (the stair steps are backed by newspaper, but there’s no date!) I think it’s from the 1940s. It’s standard size, 1:12, and I’ve only had it about a year now, but I’ve wanted “real” one since I was a kid with a metal dollhouse and plastic furniture.
I’m trying to furnish it with antique pieces (mostly just old and rustic things) or ones I cobble together myself. I like the “handmade” aspect of it all. I’m not looking for a high-quality piece, just enjoying the fun of collecting and decorating.
I’d love to hear (or see!) how you have yours furnished. I’ve never considered actually having dolls in it, but for J & D I’d do it. What would you make the dolls from? I have no idea what type of dolls are out there to buy, let alone how to make one.
