(no subject)

I know some of you guys knit ([livejournal.com profile] perclexed, [livejournal.com profile] reedfem, [livejournal.com profile] babs_sg1, not looking at you *in particular* ::grin::)

Does anyone know of a good site for knitting patterns? Either freebies or paid-for downloads, I'm not that fussy - except, not vintage, 'cos I'm not anywhere near that tiny ;-) I've taken the notion for knitting again and I have a quantity of cotton chenille (knits as 4-ply) which I quite fancy for a cardigan or a shrug, something along those lines. I just don't have a pattern. I've kind of exhausted all the sites I can think of, and shops that sell patterns are getting kind of like hens' teeth over here. So, can anyone help me out with somewhere new?

Thanks! I'll toddle on over to dec.icio.us and make hay :-) And ravelry.com sounds promising, thanks again! Browsing by yarn weight is *exactly* what I'm looking for. Um, just send the invite to my usual addy - the yahoo one - please.

I've had a look at chicknits - there are a couple of patterns there that I fell in love with at once, but unfortunately they're DK patterns, not 4 ply. Still, I'm thinking one of them might be next up ;-)

Hee for your icon! Yarn on the hoof, right enough ;-)

Fudge. It appears that the invite feature had disappeared. However, they're churning through new signups very quickly. Just check out the home page.

Maybe Garnstudio? http://garnstudio.com/index_lang.php
Phildar? http://www.phildar.com/

I'll try to think of other European based companies that might have patterns.

I love that icon. BOth of ours! :D

Oops, one last bit. I'm sure you know about knitty.com, but magknits.com may have some 4-ply patterns. Magknits was absorbed into yarnforward.co.uk recently, which looks to be an actual magazine. :/

poshyarn.co.uk has a ton of links in her blog, if not on the site. I'm ashamed to admit I've bought a few skeins from her a couple of weeks ago...it should be here by now actually. Huh.

Ysolda.me.uk has some shrugs for fairly reasonable pattern prices, I think. Maybe Rowan has free patterns on their site?

I should have put this into one consolidated comment, but I'm typing this while also running a conference call. :D

Ah multitasking... :-D

Thanks, m'dear - you've given me plenty to get going on here. I shall spend a happy morning browsing - what little I did last night turned up a couple of lovely sock patterns, one in particular that I can't *wait* to get started on :-) I'll keep you posted about the four ply!
