Chillin'

Quiet morning Monday morning - Feather and I both felt we needed it. Man, we've packed a lot in over the last few days! Spent the morning chilling out at home, noodling around online, talking smut, drinking cups of tea - just the usual. It was great to have a wee chance to recharge the batteries. The weather was back to being nice again: showery, but lovely sunshine in the main. Pity it couldn't have been that nice at Coeur d'Alene but it didn't spoil anything. Besides, I'm a Brit, I'm used to going paddling in my anorak LOL

Went to Seattle, properly to Seattle, in the afternoon. And it's official. I'm in love. What a *gorgous* place that is! A really beautiful city, modern in parts, a maze of little lanes down by the shoreline, fabulous views out over the Sound, mellow, laid back, friendly - I adore it! I think I'd move there in a heartbeat if I ever got the chance!

We went to Pike Street Market and what a place that is! A complete warren of little shops and booths over three (I think) floors in a building which I have no clue what it started out life as. Pike Street Market of the famous flying fish hee! The guys on the fish stalls were flinging huge fish to each other across the counters and didn't drop them once! Pure entertainment on its own! There was a huge display of fish at the side of one of the counters, centrepiece of which was an enormous monkfish. They might make good eating, but they're definitely not the bonniest creature on the planet. Butt ugly comes a little closer *g*. So Feather and I were looking at this thing lying on a bed of ice, me assuring her that it was more than edible, her refusing to believe that anyone would eat anything that looked as though it could swallow its own mother without a second thought, when suddenly the damn thing jumped and roared! Shit, I nearly dropped! This was one of the fishmonger guys' party tricks: this fish was attached to a string that he would beetle round the back of the stall and pull when he had a couple of suckers in his sights LOL. We had a nice little chat with him before we moved on, complete with the usual comments about my accent *g*. Nice chap.

Comments about my accent: I've been told I'm very soft spoken *gg* - now THAT would come as a great surprise to the kids in the playground when I'm roaring at them like a demented Sergeant Major LOL! I've also been accused of coming from Texas *g* - but I think the guy was kidding ;-)

We had a great time poking round all the stalls there, chatting to the stall ownvers. Fish Philosophy Rules! Everyone was really pleasant and friendly, not pushy. Even the chap in the shop with all the opal jewellery, who had to suffer through us (okay, me) trying on just about every bit of jewellery in his glass case of opal jewellery was really good natured about it, considering that I didn't actually buy anything! I would have done though, if the ring I really fancied had been available in my size ;-)

One highlight of the afternoon for me was a poke round a deli. They had Crunchies! Yep, imported Crunchies! And Carr's Table Water Buiscuits! And the prices were *outrageous*! Made me feel sooo much better about the cheapness of everything else to see, say, HP sauce (they had that too LOL) on sale for $3.99.

Meal of the Day was at Lowells, a bar overlooking the water. It was great there: lovely view, evening sunshine slanting through the windows as we watched the commuter ferries leaving for all points north, some lovely beer and the best cheeseburger I think I've ever had :-) Clean plate again too, so I think I'm getting better at this food thing ;-)

Lat day tomorrow though :-( Some more shopping for stuff to take home in the offing, I think. And meeting Joy again, yay!

Oh, and I nearly forgot: in other news, the cat seems to have been delegated to cutlery watch now ;-) Actually, she and I are now pals - she spent half an hour snoozing on my lap last night :-) Knocked ten bells out of my sweater and left me looking like an explosion in a fake fur factory, but it's a huge improvement on the 'wtf?' looks *g*

*I*, of course, think they are adorable! But I'm biased. *g* I was really impressed with how well Cats adapted to living in my zoo. I've got a lot of life crammed into a little space. One more Cat didn't make much difference.*g*

I bet its lovely and cosy in your menagerie! Cats seemed to have had a very interesting relationship with your pets *g* so cute *-) and I know what pets are like with visitors, especialy the feline variety! I once stayed over at my sisters,(she has 4 cats) got my toe attacked during the night, then woke up to find all 4 cats sitting in a row just staring at me! LOL they must of been sitting there watching me sleeping!! O.O slighty eerie, but funny *-))
