Tuesday, Last day :-(

And that means - yes, you got it - shopping :-) Miles of walking around the mall. And much ooohing and aaahing over sale prices in Macy's as I decided what to bring home for the Man and the kids :-) Feather, bless her, was infinitely patient as we trailed around (although after the watch incident, I feel she and I are on the same page vis-a-vis consumerism, ie probably amateurs in some people's terms, but definitely enthusiastic *g*) Although she might have been fibbing when she stoutly denied she was bored.
Warning to any would-be transcontinental travellers: don't expect Thomas Cook travellers' cheques to be universally welcomed. Retailers are fine: banks, otoh? Don't expect anything but derision. After abortive trips to a couple of banks in an attempt to get them to give me some cash, I finally gave up and used the debit card in the ATM. Got thoroughly twitchy when it addressed me by name too, after I'd keyed in my PIN. 'Welcome -- -- ' - what's that all about, huh? If it's supposed to make me feel carefree and at ease, it failed miserably. I spent the next ten minutes glancing anxiously over my shoulder, just in case. Just in case of what, I have no idea - just, in case ;-)
Consumer needs attended to (two must-have pairs of comfy shoes, assorted clothing items, multiple foodstuffs) we headed off to pick up Joy for an evening of pizza and smut :-) Which was the greatest fun. It's amazing how five or so hours can speed by in great company! And Joy and Feather are definitely great company! We did very little except laugh - about what I can't now remember thanks to jetlag - and it was a great evening, one I'll remember with warmth and affection for ever. It was time to say goodbye all too soon :-(
Short entry, because, like I say, jetlag :-( And I still have The Voyage Home to cover - which was anything but straightforward - before an early night.
