Because [livejournal.com profile] sharp2799 asked, and because [livejournal.com profile] slb_44's garden looks so pretty *g*. And also because my computer desk is tidy YAY!

B'day flowers from The Man, bless him :-) I love getting flowers! Also MsB? The Avalon chalice is standing on the fireplace next to the flowers, slightly behind the pussy cat.

Next, aforesaid tidy desk ::is proud::

And four random pictures of the front garden.

Well it's spring here as opposed to autumn - and no one could accuse our climate of being even tepid, never mind hot LOL!

Even in spring, my garden looked awful. Only a few of my bulbs managed to flower in the drought. I have three blooms on the climbing Double Delight rose and that's it.

:-( Drought is impossible to deal with. I'm grateful it's not something I have to cope with regularly - my plants are more likely to drown or to struggle through a cold season.

But now, I'm curious - ignorant too, but that's a given *g* - does your garden thrive better in the winter? See, this is where the ignorance kicks in regarding your climate. I have no idea how cool it gets over there during the winter, nor how much daylight you get, etc. I'm afraid my knowledge is based on Neighbours being on telly around about teatime and the kids watching it while waiting for the calories to appear *g* - so strictly absorption from the background. And the only thing that has 'stuck' from that was one time seeing the cast wearing jerseys and commenting it was chilly - at 60F or so. Which would have everyone out in t-shirts over here ;-)

It's going to be a high of 11 C today. I'm freezing my arse off even in my office because the heating only works on one side of the building.

We have frosts that are as low as -6 Celsius so that cuts down on the number of blooms we can have then. There are some winter bulbs, plus camellias and rhododendrons I suppose but the garden usually goes into hibernation. I have fruit trees and a few other deciduous trees so they're all bare and cold.

And that's where the ignorance kicked in, right there - I didn't realise that any part of Oz was subject to frost :-(

Good lord, you really get the worst of both worlds, don't you? (((Tilley))) The gardening conditions from hell :-(((
