I did that 'how wierd are you?' meme and the answer basically came out, 'duh! Ditchwater, baybee!'

Which got my wild up and I immediately thought, 'Ill show you, LJ..' while I shook my fist in the air...

Dolls' houses are one of my 'things'. Love 'em, am busy building one and making all the little bitty things that make a dolls' house a dolls' home. My house, of *course*, is occupied by a couple of guys. These guys, of *course*, have a shoebox tucked at the back of the wardrobe. Here are the contents (penny added for scale, and it's roughly the same size as a US penny):

The black one is for when they're feeling particularly ambitious LOL

Read, weep, and inwardly digest, LJ! Then get back to me and tell me I'm dull as ditchwater...

You're welcome for the welcome -- okay, stopping now, it's getting silly *g*

Yours sounds lovely :-) I love the idea of a vintage house, but they're as expensive as hell over here unless you're really lucky, or unless they're so beat up it'd be the work of a lifetime to restore them. And as for vintage furniture, fuhgeddaboudit :-(

Hee! It's the making things by hand aspect that appeals to me most as well (though I have bought some things on the principle that I know my limitations *g*), mostly because they're unique. I find the mass produced stuff often disappointing (too coarse, wrong colour, yadda) so I'd rather have something original that wasn't perfect. Plus mine is (will be!) a modern house and decent modern furniture is hard to find. Although it's the best of both worlds really: when I'm looking for designs for furniture, I try to go IKEA because it's funky and modern, but there's nothing to stop me having 'period' pieces as well on the principle that most homes aren't show homes :-)

And now's the time for a small confession: my house, currently, is a pile of pieces on top of the wardrobe. I got the house and then got distracted over getting together the small things ::blush:: The main thing that's stopping me from building it is trying to decide whether to light it or not. The decision has to be made this summer! Because I really need the house to store the bits in now. Which way have you jumped with yours? I'd like to see pics if you have any, of your house and of the things you've made!

Making dolls seems really tricky :-( They seem to be largely cast rather than modelled and that's not easy. There are some out there to buy, but I haven't found my guys yet. It's a pity the action figures are quite so large scale - and I doubt if they'd ever put out 1:12 ones :-( I'd be so there if they did! *g*

You’d definitely have to call mine vintage, rather than antique. It’s not the sturdiest thing, either. I like my stuff old and “lived in,” rather than modern. I’m not averse to something a bit out of scale, and I don’t think anything matches. Shabby Chic disguised as eclectic, vintage junk? :D

Yours sound much more professional and a lot more work. It’s fine to have it in pieces, most of the fun is in putting it all together. (Mine’s currently just jammed with miniature stuff, while I contemplate the wallpaper and floor coverings.) I’m not doing electric lights, but I think I would if it was modern.

I just got a digital camera, but haven’t gotten around to figure out how to get the pics on the computer. Maybe I will by the time I get something done on the house. But don’t hold your breath; it was supposed to be a winter project, but life got busy and stayed that way.

Ha! The action figures would be so perfect. Maybe there’s some other scaled down Star Wars figures that could be repainted, or something. Now I’ll have to start looking. :)

Shabby chic hee! :-) Although I confess I'm a bit of a scale nazi - sometimes you have to tweak it a bit because strictly to scale doesn't look right (cushions being a prime example) but mostly I'm a 1:12 martinet *g*

I wouldn't say mine was professional, exactly, but it surely is a lot of work. I find the most fun is building the scale furniture and being able to make it a little bit different to most of the stuff you can buy. Hence the IKEA look because the shapes are nice and easy to work out and they're very obliging about putting sizes in their catalogues *g*

When you figure out the pictures thing I'd love to see some! I have another little project that I'm just finishing off that I'll post in the next day or two. Another little something for that shoebox ;-)

Oooh, thank you! I'd have missed that otherwise!

LOL! Roughly what I imagine going on in my house on a pretty regular basis, sans zombie elves of course *g*
