(no subject)

My god, has this been a week, or has this been a week.

Came home to find tumble dryer knackered - 'honestly, mum, the door just came off in my hand' - yeah, suuuure it did - but luckily, dryer is insured. Easily put right :-)

Came home to find washing machine dead. Really, really dead. Washing machine is not insured. New machine arrives on Wednesday coming, laundry piles up alarmingly in interim. So, (comparatively) easily put right but costs an arm and a leg. And costs a great deal of effort meantime and swearing when the new machine finally arrives and is working. Crikey moses, nine loads and counting :-(

And to top it off, MIL ends up in hospital: silly accident with a folding chair, result MIL - 0, folding chair - 3 (at least). Asked to describe damaged finger, MIL describes it as 'pulp'.

::shudder::

Roll on next week.

Both the washer AND the dryer?? How unlucky was that?

So - as you have all this free time on your hands (not doing washing) how about the holibang pics??

Oh - and poor MIL! I hope they can fix the digit. Those folding chairs can be vicious

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's just the kind of luck I have, when my luck decides to play the prima donna :-(

Free time, I wish! Children have expanded to fill all free time ;-) But I'll get the photos, such as they are, up this week, for sure.

The digit appears to be as fine as can be expected, apart from being 'pulp' ::shudder::. And she has industrial strength pain killers, so is totally spaced out and as happy as a clam ;-)

oh noes!

*pets*

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Ach well, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

::arches and purrs, regardless::

The dryer is insured but the washing machine isn't? That's...oy. And 9 loads?? Are your machines sized differently than in the US? Or do you have a football team visiting?

Wishing your MIL a happy recovery even after the drugs wear off!

(And wishing you a stress-free week.)

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
The dryer is insured but the washing machine isn't?

Not as daft as it sounds, the washing machine is 12 years old, as I discovered when I fished out the receipt, so the warranty ran out years ago. And I think front loading automatics are the same size, Jen's is the same size as mine anyway. No football team, just a lot of bodies in the house (6) *g*

I've not had an update on MIL yet today but I'm fullly expecting her to be wearing a kaftan ;-)

[identity profile] sharp2799.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
You...kept the receipt?

*awed silence*

[identity profile] starting-gate.livejournal.com 2008-03-30 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
When it rains, it pours ... and it lasts all week.

Ow! Geez. Poor MIL.

Maybe this is just nature's way of giving you all your bad luck in a short time so the rest of your year is free and clear. :) Ya hear that, Ma Nature!

*snuggles*

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
And here's hoping she's applying the same principle to you

::snuggles back::

[identity profile] perclexed.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
eeee they planned it and quit in protest together! Bastards.

I hope your MIL is well soon!

Also? I ::heart:: you. Because you are full of awesome with a side of fantastic. :*

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Awww...

Hmmm. You think the quitting was orchestrated, eh? I'll have to nip that in the bud - when appliances start labour unions, it can only lead to trouble...

[identity profile] feather-autant.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no about the laundry stuff! *shudders* Maybe you'll get lucky and your kids will put a couple of loads in for you?

ROFL!!!!

I know, sometimes I crack myself up. *g*

Poor MIL! At least the drugs are keeping her happy. :)

YAYYYYY! for airline ticket!!!! *bounces* Just a few more weeks! :D

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
I know, I know. Kids + laundry = not a chance in hell ;-)

Qualified Yay for ticket - have you seen what's been going on at Terminal 5 this week? Not that I'm not used to arriving somewhere where my luggage isn't, but normally that happens in this direction rather than the outbound trip. Maybe they'll have their shit together in three weeks' time.

::facepalm:: What was I thinking? This is BA we're talking about here...

{{{{{{many hugs}}}}}

//and one naughty grope//

Be sure to 'christen' the new washer during the spin cycles. 9 doesn't sound so bad now, does it?

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
ROFLMAO!!

::wipes eyes:: Ah, MsB dear, you have such a way with positive spin ;-)

::hugs::

[identity profile] wadjet-theperv.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man *hugs* Doesn't rain but it lashes down eh?

Hope you're not disappearing under the laundry mountain (it breeds ya know).

Next week, is another week though. It'll be fine. :o)

[identity profile] blue-adagio.livejournal.com 2008-03-31 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouch, ouch, ouch!

I once had an incident with a folding chair, though mine wasn't quite so bad as the one that's happened to your poor MIL. But I remember it hurt like hell, so I sympathise!

Also I can't believe you'd be so unlucky to have both the washing machine and dryer fail you just as you come home from a holiday. That's really incredibly bad timing.

Hope your next week will be better!

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-04-02 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, my timing has never been brilliant :-( However, this week is already taking a turn for the better, thanks :-) And the news from the MIL is quite good, so that's another bonus.

[identity profile] riverfox.livejournal.com 2008-04-01 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
ACK! {{{{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}}}}} A year and a half ago, we had to go buy two brand new machines, washer and dryer, because the used ones we'd been buying on the cheap would work six months and drop dead. *sighs* We learned, but oy, at a price.

Would this be the right time to teach your tribe how to operate a laundromat? No? Okay, just thought I'd ask. :-p

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2008-04-02 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Tribe? Launderette?

Does not compute.
