...yes, yes, I can hear the groans from here, shutup, you don't need to click on the cut... ;-)
Another three-way today ;-) Me,
nicci_mac and
ximeria at the Botanic Gardens. Xim showed me the other day how to use the macro properly, so this was a great excuse *g*
First though, a picture of the glasshouses that we spent all of our time in today. Just because it's a lovely building.

The flowers in all the different habitats were utterly glorious. There were cacti and succulents, and strelitzias, and orchids galore, and really odd yellow bud-type things, lord alone knows what they were.

Edit Xim found out what the odd yellow bud things are (all hail Ximeria and the power of her google fu) - a variety of ginger, apparently :-)
The temperate houses had some little gems too.

But my absolute favourite picture of the day was this one. I just love love LOVE how the water turned out, like old 1950s squiggly wallpaper (except not that vile mustard yellow *g*).

Date: 2008-07-05 08:56 pm (UTC)But that was pure chance, the thing with the water - was totally meant ;-)Seriously, it was pure luck. Just so happened that that area of the pond had clear airspace up to the glasshouse roof, and the ripples of the fish coming up disturbed the reflections of the glazing bars.
Actually, I think this is the picture of my *year*, not just my day. I'm really very pleased with it.

Date: 2008-07-07 01:07 am (UTC)I'm especially mesmerized by the third picture -- it's like looking at a kaleidoscope or something, I just get lost in it. And the squiggle water is awesome! And the tiki-torch plants, which I've never seen before.
Sounds (and looks) like it was a great day. :-)
