There are many things for which life is too short. Top of the list today? Peeling what feels like one metric tonne of tomatoes - *cherry* tomatoes mark you - preparatory to smooshing them (technical term) and freezing them.

Damn this glut nonsense :-((( And damn all those cookery writers who'd have you believe that all you have to do is pop them in boiling water for a couple of seconds to get them slipping out of their jackets like eager little hookers. They lie, they lie like rugs. Bah humbug :-(

Good lord. I stopped peeling roma tomatoes when I realized that instead of eager little hookers (hehehehe) they were peeling in bits like strippers waiting for another twenty before they exposed more flesh. I admire (and am secretly appalled by) your dedication.

When the beloved complains that the skins roll up in the sauce and are intrusive much the way a bay leaf is, I tell her that all the fibre is in the skins and it's good for her. Or does she want to get colon cancer? Hmmm? It doesn't keep her from complaining but I maintain the moral highground and spend much less time in the kitchen. *g*

LOL what *is* it about food and sex?

('peeling...like strippers waiting for an extra twenty' - ::admires::)

I tell her that all the fibre is in the skins and it's good for her

Oh, I like this :-) Next year, I'm *definitely* going to use this :-) I'm *totally* in favour of moral high ground maintenance and if it cuts the kitchen chores - double score!

::nods:: Working smarter is so much better than working harder *g*.

AND I'm likin' that icon, likin' it a LOT! Don't need a second invitation either ;-)

Oh my... no wonder I haven't heard from you in a while. Would you mind giving me a call sometime? Since my phones died I've lost loads of numbers. Yours included. :o( When you've finished with the toms of course ;o)

Between blasted tomatoes and other things vegetable and extra shifts here, there and everywhere - dammit, I *hate* when the things I *have* to do, rather than the things I *want* to do, move front and centre :-(

I'm sorry. It's way too long since I've managed to touch base with you in real time :-( I'll be in touch very soon, promise.

I'd give up. If their skins won't come off in boiling water, they might be still too unripe. Sez the Not at All a Kitchen Queen.

I'd give up

I did ;-) and filed the whole idea in the file labelled 'Never Again'. They certainly looked and felt ripe, but they were *very* prudish about gettin nekkid :-(
